Mexico City --Mexican authorities plan to initiate a vaccination program on the corona virus (covid-19) against its citizens by the end of the third week of December. The medical workers will be the first to receive a corona vaccine injection in the country.
As Associated Press dilandit, Wednesday (9/12/2020), President andres Manuel lopez obrador asserts the corona vaccine will be given 'universal and free 'as well. He expects the entire Mexican population to be vaccinated by the end of the next 2021.
"First, vaccines will be given universally, meaning to everyone. It's the right of all mexicans," says lopez obrador.
"(vaccine) it will be free. So it will be given freely and universally," firmly.
"Preference will go to doctors, nurses, to those who treat the sick from covid, and to the elderly," adds lopez obrador.
Mexican authorities add that starting February next year, people up to 60 years of age will receive a corona vaccine, followed by people 50 years of age and upward in April and 40 years of age in May.
Mexican authorities point out that people with risk factors such as congenital diseases or medical disorders were vaccinated first.
Lopez obrador, a 67-year-old New Year old, will get the corona vaccine in February, according to his age group.
It is known that the Mexican government has compromised the purchase of 34.4 million doses of the corona vaccine made by pfizer-biontech. It also mentioned earlier that 250 thousand doses of these will arrive about the next December 17.
"We have determined that the first shipments, with a potential of about 250 thousand doses, will be used for the first segment of the number one priority group, health personnel, the first respond-response personnel in the covid epidemic," explains Mexican deputy health minister Hugo lopez-gattell.
Mexican military personnel will then assist in distribution of the corona vaccine to vaccination locations, originally established in Mexico City and coahuila.
Lopez-gattell added that Mexico's health regulators are expected to approve the use of the corona vaccine on December 11, or the day after the United States food and drug authority (fda) is expected to give similar approval.
Britain became the first country to approve and had begun a corona vaccination with the pfizer-biontech vaccine on Monday (7/12) local time.
Lopez-gattell states that vaccination rates will be increased once more doses arrive from other sources. This week, Mexico plans to sign an agreement for 35 million doses of the cansino vaccine from China.
